Maryland Cracking Down on Unlawful Shipments
July 5, 2017
By Kristin Carlton, Vice President of Compliance
The state of Maryland allows only wineries that produce their own product to ship directly to Maryland consumers. Wineries can only legally ship wine of their own production, but cannot ship wine they did not produce themselves, or imported wines. The direct ship application and renewal now requires permittees to sign under penalty of perjury that they will not ship wine that they have not produced.
