Maine wholesale licensing, renewals, brand registration, price posting and distributor appointments are now all online using their new online system. This new service allows out of state malt liquor and wine suppliers to file for the following:

    • New application to become licensed as a Certificate of Approval (COA) in Maine and complete other licensing requirements
    • Renewals of Certificate of Approvals
    • Renew or add new brands and register the subsequent product labels of the brand(s)
    • Assign territories for its new brand(s) to licensed Maine wholesalers as part of the brand and label registration process

The brand and label registration is available at any time to manage your products, but the renewal of your COA license only needs to be completed when your license is up for renewal which can be no more than 60 days prior to your expiration date.

The new online system for Liquor Licensing does not include any registration of your brand’s bottle deposit information with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). You must use the DEP’s Beverage Container Label Registration and Licensing Portal for this purpose.
